Look It in the Eye
Some days you just have to look it in the eye.
Acknowledge it for what it is.
Absorb the 'new' reality.
Let the air rush out of your lungs while the fist of fate is buried deeply in your gut.
Let the tears flow.
Feel the ground literally shift under your feet.
Allow yourself to feel however it is that you feel.
Rage.
Hopelessness.
Disappointment.
Sadness.
Frustration.
Grief.
The universe, for some unexplained, irrational reason, has presented it to you.
And you owe it to yourself to give it your full and undivided attention. See it for what it is - no filters. It isn't going anywhere, not right now.
There will be a time, later (perhaps much, much later) when you can turn this in your hands, look at it from different angles, hold it up to the light to see the intricacies of its design more clearly. Search for the lesson, the gift, even the beauty within its grotesque face.
You will know when that is. The time will come, eventually.
But for now, dear heart?
Just look it in the eye.
