Oh Canada!

Gratitude check:

Timmy's coffee when I'm oot and aboot;

Water I can drink right out of the tap, soil I can coax food out of, and clean air to breathe;

Quality education and healthcare, free for the asking;

Rain forest, boreal forest, coast, plains, tundra and mountains (all without leaving your borders);

Equality, diversity, and the evolving mindset of acknowledgement, apology and improvement.

No place is perfect, my country included.
I could write a laundry list of things that (in my humble opinion) need to be overhauled, addressed, improved or, quite honestly, axed.  THAT is another conversation, one that happens at our coffee shops, water coolers, and kitchen tables daily.

Today, however, I choose to celebrate my home and native land.  It surrounds me with more beauty, peace, and abundance than any one person could hope to experience in this life.

Where ever you are on this big old rock, take a moment to open your eyes and really see all of the awesomeness that surrounds you.  It's there - if nothing jumps out and grabs you, look a little harder.

I'm going to go pull on my toque, feed the dog team and polish the sled.  Maybe patch up a couple of thin spots on the igloo, too (tongue firmly in cheek.  No, really!!!)

And later?  Later I'll find some fireworks to enjoy while I sip a cup of Red Rose Canadian Breakfast tea.

Happy birthday, Canada!

Sandi
