Perspective. Point of view. Outlook. Angle. Attitude. Position. Frame of reference. Interpretation.
Whatever you call it, it is the most powerful tool available to you for the practice of relentless gratitude.
It is powerful for the simple reason that it gives you a choice. It's flexible. Personal. Fluid. Empowering.
It's true - you can be angered by the fact that the roses have thorns, or be thankful that the thorns have roses. It is entirely up to you.
You can apply it to every single detail of your day.
This morning....
I woke up with a miserable stuffy head and a sore hip....
OR.... I woke up to a lovely summer day! All the pollen floating around from the gorgeous growing things was making me stuffy, but in the grand scheme it's a small price to pay (and I have Claritin in the house, thank goodness). My hip was aching, but I did some good work yesterday that stretched my body more than I'm used to. I'll modify today's plans to allow it to rest and heal a bit.
Nothing sugar-coated and nothing changed, really. Only the way I CHOOSE to look at the situation.
Sometimes changing your outlook about one small thing can put you on track for a more positive day.
I challenge you to try it. Today. Look at one detail and then consider the different ways you can choose to "see". Pick one that feels honest, yet a little more heart-felt - perhaps more forgiving. Remind yourself of that positive choice from time to time today.
It's contagious, but in the most pleasant of ways.
Once you practice a little you just might find that it changes your life.
You deserve to live in a world that's a little gentler, a little kinder, a little less judgmental.
That world begins inside you - the positivity will infect everything and everyone around you if you just start.
What an awesome gift to give yourself - don't you think you're worth it?
